Sanquin - What’s Your Blush Type?
This was a spec campaign concept for the Dutch national blood bank that, sadly, did not make it to production. But I still love the concept.
The brief was clear, downplay the use of the word “blood” in a campaign about blood donation. Impossible you say? Not really. Because when we feel emotional… in love, happy, embarrassed, there’s often a physical telltale—you blush. Blushing is literally blood rushing to your head when you feel human.
The OOH, digital and mobile campaign would have been portraits of people caught in these human moments, blushing. Funny, relatable headlines would make people think of the importance of blood donation and helping their fellow human. All without a drop of blood.
